Beauchamp Brings Diversity to Music

Everyone has a talent. For Miami, Okla. s, Brian Beauchamp, it s playing music. Beauchamp who began playing guitar in 1998 while attending college at the University of Oklahoma said he first played after borrowing a guitar from his friend, Jamie Neal. He now plays rhythm guitar and is lead vocals. For this he was nominated for the Payne County Line 2005 New Artist of the Year award.


The first baby born in Alaska in 1976, Beauchamp was born in Anchorage and moved to Miami when he was six months old. He later graduated from Miami High School and attended college off and on at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma and a college in Kentucky,

Over the years I have been a piano teacher I have had many people call or write me and ask me something like this:


“I play by ear, or by chords, but lots of music doesn’t have chord symbols written in — how do I know what chord to play when?”

33 Tips For Becoming a Great Piano Player!

Are there really secrets to becoming a really good piano player? Or is it just a matter of practice, practice, practice?


Practice is necessary, of course, but you could practice until the cows come home without understanding what you re doing at the piano, and all you would end up with is fingers that behave obediently to whatever the sheet music or score tells them to do.


Understanding how music works in terms of form and content is the key to productive practice. Then you are not just playing mechanically by rote like a machine, but you can get inside the music and eventually let it flow out of your brain and heart as well as your hands.
